Chapter 2: Sankhya-Yog
โ Arjuna's Dilemma:
In the first chapter, Arjuna is deeply troubled by the prospect of fighting against his own family members in the war. He contemplates withdrawing from the battle, believing it to be the only solution to his emotional turmoil.
โ Reasons to Fight:
Krishna provides three compelling reasons for Arjuna to participate in the war:
- From the standpoint of the true nature of ฤtmฤ (self), he explains that the soul is eternal, and neither Arjuna nor Bhฤซแนฃma can be killed.
- Considering the duty of a Kแนฃatriya (warrior), Arjuna should fight for a righteous cause and establish order, as a righteous war leads to spiritual growth.
- From a worldly perspective, Arjuna's reputation would suffer if he withdrew from the battle, and he would be considered a coward.
โ Characteristics of a Wise Person:
The chapter also elaborates on the characteristics of a person established in Self-knowledge. Such an individual is content, free from desires, and unaffected by attachment, hatred, desire, anger, fear, and other emotions.
โ The Ocean of the Wise:
The wise person's mind is compared to the ocean, independently full and undisturbed by external experiences, akin to rivers entering or not entering, dirty or clean.
